Drinking is not really bad for as long as you do it in moderation. What is bad is when you consume a large volume of alcohol and you have no control over your alcohol craving. There are signs and symptoms you should watch out for. These include the following:

  • A strong urge to drink

The person’s urge to drink is stronger that it will not go away until satisfied. Since drinking is no longer controlled, the person’s personal and professional life is affected too. The person cannot function well at work. In fact, there are times when a person goes to work while drunk. The personal relationship is also compromised. It would lead to marital woes and the likes.

  • Losing the ability to control the volume of alcohol to drink

Drinking one bottle of beer at night isn’t considered alcoholism. However, if you drink too much almost everyday to the point that you will not reach satisfaction by drinking only a few beers a day, then by all means, that is considered alcoholism. This leads to bigger problems such as liver cirrhosis and cancer.

  • Alcohol dependency

An alcoholic person needs to take alcohol to function. The body continuously craves for alcohol to the point that a person can no longer function normally. If deprived of alcohol, the alcoholic becomes shaky and sweaty. The person also becomes anxious and nauseated.

  • High tolerance to alcohol

Excessive drinking of alcoholic beverages will make your body tolerant to it. So, even if you consume a large volume of alcohol, you will still feel dissatisfied. As a result, you keep on drinking without limits.
